VOLUNTEER SERVICES There are two forms in this newsletter, one for Volunteer Record-Code #319, and one for Community Service Volunteer Hours. The first one is for any kind of volunteer work at a Veterans Facility, whether you do it at the Facility, or make something at home for the Facility, such as welcome bags, lap robes, etc. The second one is for Community Service which covers any type of work you perform in your community, such as volunteering at a local hospital or nursing home, delivering meals, driving someone to doctors, dentists, banks or shopping, museum work, or any other work you do for a non-profit organization, your church, fund-raising, etc. Remember, the forms are for the period of June 1, 1998 to May 31, 1999. Please keep track of your hours on a calendar or book, then at the end of May, make a copy of the form you need, send the original to Freddie McBride and a copy to me. I think it is easier for you to send forms once a year only .also easier for Freddie and for me to keep track of the hours turned in. Unit 32 turned in 1420 hours last year, but I know there are many of you out there who do volunteer work you dont think qualifies. If in doubt, call me. Lets double the hours this year and next year, so when Freddie reports at the National Convention in Cleveland in 2000, well be at the top of the list. After June 1st, I will have forms for June 1999 through May 2000. Stella Staley, Chair, Volunteer Hours Unit 32 (517) 393-3086 |
