I am happy now, for when I did not work here, I missed the Navy comradship alot. I actually am heading to Norfolk to help train some new Midshipmen in a few weeks, will bring back some good memories. I am active duty navy now, I wanted to let the WAVE community know that a fellow WAVE. Roberta Pemberton (McDevitt) died on Mother's Day. She always talked to me about her days as a WAVE. If anyone has any pictures of her as a WAVE or any stories they can tell me about her I would love to hear it. She was sationed in Chicago and Milington Air Force Base. We are all saddened by her death but smile when we think about how she lived.

Looking for Alice O'Rourke or similar spelling who had two brothers and lived in her parents house in Grandville Michigan during the years 1940 – 1941. She is four years older than my mom, Wilma (Jennie) Elferink Koster, who was born in 1923, so Alice was born 1919 or so. My mom liked her very much as she was mom's first adult friendship. They talked about my future dad, Jerry Koster. They were friends at St Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI where both worked in the pharmacy for 1.5 years. Alice drove in from Grandville to hospital and my mom lived on Cherry Street in Grand Rapids. Then Alice entered the WAVES and sent mom pictures. My mom is now 85 and wondering if Alice is still around. Please let us know. Thanks!

Bainbridge, Md. Aug.68.Co.5. Had a sister company. I was called Kelly because of my southern accent and the way I pronounced the word. Was set back to sister company at a time that being set back was very controversal. Many waves were set back when a certain commander was filling in for our commander that was very sick. I then went to NAS Norfolk. First was the commanding officers driver, then went to the NAS Photo Lab. Then I re-enlisted for orders to FICPAC,FORD ISLAND,Hawaii.

My mother, Gladys Robertson Everett served as a clerk with the Navy in Cleveland Ohio in 1943-1945. Her time with the WAVES was brief but it impacted her for a lifetime. She was so proud of her service (and the fact she could still fit into her uniform more than 50 years later) that we decided that her uniform would be the best outfit for her to wear at her funeral. She passed away on Jan.27,2008 and proudly wore her uniform to her last reward.

I went through bootcamp at Bainbridge Md., in Noveber 1964. Stayed in the Navy and retired in September 1986. Did two tours as a Company Commander (Drill Instructor)at RTC Orlando Florida. I currently work for the State of California as a TAP Instructor(Transisiton Assistance Program) assisting personnel getting out of the military on how to do resumes, finances and job interviews with a host of other topics. I have now been out of the Navy as long as I was in and I would not change my life and the decision to go into the Navy, it was a thrill and an expereince I will never forget.

attended bootcamp in orlando fla. jan 18, 1974 in company 063 would love to hear from anyone in that company, i also would love to buy a copy of our company book mine burned in the old homestead fire. i still have a picture of my company and i hate to say but when i read the remarks from fellow shipmates on the back of the picture i remembr all the faces but not the names, there was a tall girl with red hair that we nickmamed red and also i remember one girl with the last name of bebout not sure of the spelling she came in on bubby duty and there was one girl with curly hair who kept getting in trouble for looking around when we were at parade rest anyway if anyone reads this message would love to hear from you and maybe i can put names with the faces.
