WAVES NATIONAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP |
|
This
is the final chance for your sons/daughters, grandsons/ granddaughters
or other lineal descendants to apply for one of two WAVES
National $1,000 scholarships. The eligibility requirements
for those high school or college young people are set forth below.
At the mid-term WAVES National Board of Directors’ meeting, it was
determined that we would award two $1,000 scholarships rather than the
one we have been awarding in the past. The names of the scholarships and
their topics are: Rear Admiral Grace Hopper Scholarship “Service Women
in Combat and Their Impact on National Defense” and |
Anne
Marie Bianchi-GagnonScholarship “Contributions of Sea Service Women During the War in Korea”. Those young people applying for these scholarships may enter one or both contests. The applications for scholarship along with qualifying documents should be mailed to: Jan Roy, Scholarship Contest Chairman, at 1300 Market Avenue, S.W., Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The deadline is March 15. This deadline will be strictly adhered to, and the postmark may be no later than this date. Put out the word to your relatives who are eligible for these scholarships. We hope to have many essays to judge in 2004! |
NOTE: Eligibility is open to a relative or lineal descendant of a woman sea service veteran or woman presently serving on active duty or reserves in one of the sea services (U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps or U.S. Coast Guard) who is a high school senior or currently enrolled in college. Definition of a lineal descendant: A blood relative (by birth or legal adoption) of the sea service woman (not their spouse). |
